Slips and Wishes considers water as a circular shape and as a border.
Slips and Wishes
Orientation, buoyancy and surface itself, that boundary between worlds, both window and water, is both visible and obscured. Moving through a shifting series of landscapes; a pond in Montreal, a river in Co.Cork and the coastline of Co.Dublin, a watery ‘other’ place is imagined, alongside a more personal history of movement, an alternative travelogue. This work stems from researching old rural wells in the Duchas Schools Collection, a collection of folklore compiled by schoolchildren in Ireland in the 1930s.
